Second Saturday at Checkered Cottage
We will be hosting a demo or make n take on the second Saturday of each month. This is a
free event that will run while supplies last between the hours of 10:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. In
conjunction with the demo or make n take - Linda will be featuring new card designs and
patterns on this Saturday. Please call the store for more information at 314-909-7233.

Re-Create
We are pleased to announce the opening of our resale section located within the Checkered Cottage. All you need to do is bring in your "nearly new" card making and scrapbooking items. You will be assigned a dealer number and will receive 50% of the selling price. All items will be on display for 60 days - 30 days at full price and the next 30 days at half price. Checks will be issued on the 10th of each month for the previous months sales. These checks will be available for pickup in the store. Items may be dropped off in the store during regular business hours. New product is priced and put out for sale on Mondays. Items are accepted at our discretion. We look forward to having you as a consignor!
Cards for Soldiers Workshop
You are invited to join Cindy and Jackie at Checkered Cottage to create cards that our soldiers can send home to their families and friends for
holidays or special events that occur while they are out of the country. We host this event once a month with holidays changing monthly, but you
are not restricted to create only holiday cards. You bring in your supplies to create and share ideas with other fellow cardmakers. A 10% discount
is offered in the shop during this time if you wish to make any purchases. If you are not able to attend our monthly card night - we do accept cards
daily in the store and they will be mailed out once a month to the soldiers. All monetary donations towards shipping costs are appreciated. We have the
Operation Write Home stamp available in our shop that needs to be put on the back of every card. The requirements on what can and can not be on a
card can be found at www.operationwritehome.org along with the schedule for the mailing of certain holidays. No glitter can be used on a card.

Private Class Parties
Checkered Cottage will do a private class of 5 or more people on any of our class projects. You can bring in your own beverages and food if you like and we will set you up with the paper goods you need. We have hot tea bags, hot chocolate, hot spiced cider, and water that are available for anyone’s use during a class. All private class participants will receive a 20% discount on any shopping done in the store that day and the hostess of the party will also receive a $10 punch card. We do welcome children’s classes in the summer for embossing projects with Jan Conway for ages 8 and up
Bring a Friend Incentives
Classes - Sign up a new student to take a class with you and you will receive a $10 punch. This card may be used on future purchases or class fee. Offer good for one student only per class.
Class Policies
- Payment is required at setup. No class fee posted we will require a $10 deposit toward the class fee.
- Cancellations up to 1 week in advance are refundable.
- Cancellations made less than 1 week of the class date are non-refundable. A class kit will be provided. Teachers will no longer make the project if someone is absent from class.
- Extra class kits, for students enrolled, can be purchased for the class fee, at the teacher's discretion. Preorders are required!!!
- There will be a nominal charge for a make up fee if someone misses class and wants to reschedule with the teacher. The fee is $ 10.00/hr. The fee will be waived if a teacher or weather cancels a class for any reason and needs to be rescheduled.
- Please keep cell phones on vibrate during class time.
- Reminder: Checkered Cottage follows the Kirkwood school closings during bad weather season. We will also try and leave you a phone message regarding weather related canceled classes.
Store Refund Policies
Punch Cards – Limit 2 redeemed per visit – There is no punches on commission or jewelry merchandise. All sales are final on special order stencils, brass templates, wood kits, and books. Without a receipt you will receive an in-store credit on any other purchases returned.
