Melissa Francis Book – Jackie's black and white 6" album has been so popular, that she has designed a new version using our new Melissa Francis papers and vintage embellishments. This little album has a soft and romantic look.

The Black and White Album
– By popular demand, Jackie is teaching the her 6 x 6 black and white
album using the Bind It All machine. You will work with templates,
ribbons, buttons, etc. to create this ever popular book. There may be
some substitutions in paper but the whole book will still have the
black, white, and green theme throughout.

Quilling Basics
– Georgia will be joining our class team to teach the basic of quilling. She will be
holding workshops each month to teach how to create flowers, bugs, etc. You can take
all your little creations and add them to your cards, packages, or frame in a picture.
Great beginner classes or refresh your skills if you have quilled before.

Supplies needed: Quilling tool with a 3/16” slot,
tweezers, Elmers glue, and cork board if you wish to work on one to pin your
projects down. Quilling tools and papers are available at Schaefers Hobby Shop
on Gravois however very thin paper from Checkered Cottage can be cut down for variations.

Classy Cloisonne
– Judi has created a great card with a border template from
Dreamweaver’s and white embossing paste. Once the paste is dried you
will then color the paste and add embossing powder to give it a glossy
look. Great technique class with paste.

The Silk Purse
– Intermediate - Barbara has made beautiful purses from Shantung Silk
and trimmed with hot pink fringe. You'll be painting darling
little roses and buds on your purse. Absolutely beautiful and
perfect to carry for a night at the Muny.

Making Memories Card, Tags and Envelopes
– Jackie has created a technique class using the new Making Memories
card, tags, and envelope template. You will create several different
projects using various papers. Class fee includes the template.

It's Not Really a Card...Because it is so much more
– Jan has created the cutest book purse and treat bag purse
using new Crate papers. You will receive the new Katlin paper kit which
includes rubons, die cut sheet, and matching papers with plenty leftover
to take home and use on other projects.

Calla Lily
– Watercolor at it’s best – Barb will teach you basic watercolor
painting will you create this gorgeous piece. This is the first of many
new classes by Barb using watercolor paints. The class does not include
mat and framing.

Daisy Photo Mat
– Kathy has created a beautiful pen and ink daisy and greenery
mat. Learn some great basics while creating a wonderful mat for a
special picture.

Paisley Perfection
– Judi has created the cutest cards using New BoBunny cottage
collections papers, new tin of flowers from BoBunny, and Technique
Tuesday Masterpieces of Paisley stamps. You won’t want to miss all the
technique in this class. Quick, easy, and perfect for any occasion.

Great Crate Creations
– You loved the first Crate paper class so much, Jan has created
another fun Crate paper class with the Blue Hill Collection. You will
make a stationary holder with stationary and a folded card made out of a
single sheet of 12 x 12

Friends Forever
– Just in time for best friends day – Jackie is working with an
assortment of papers and embellishments from BoBunny. It is a surprise –
you will create 4 different cards to send to special friends. You won’t
want to miss this fun day as it is the 9th annual anniversary sale at
the store also.

Curls 'n Swirls
– Jan has created four cards using stamps and templates with
curls n swirls. You won’t want to miss this fun class of multi purpose
cards.

Paper cutter,
adhesives (tape runner, glue
dots, or mounting tape),
scissors, light box and stylus
(when needed for class), ink pad
for antiquing, scuffers,
tweezers, and bone folder.
Parking Permit for Day Classes
We provide a parking pass to be
put in your cars on the day of
class since Kirkwood has a two
hour parking limit. These
parking passes are put on the
dashboard of your car which
needs to be parked on the
parking lot across the street
from us toward the back of the
lot preferably. There are a few
three
hour spaces available on this
lot but our parking pass can not
be in your car if you are in
those spaces. We have received
permission by Kirkwood police to
use this pass and thank you for
following the rules.
Embossing Club
- FREE
Checkered Cottage is pleased to announce the formation of a paper arts
club. The first Tuesday of each month from 6:30 – 8:30 P.M. will
be reserved for our club. Bring your templates, stamps, paper, etc. and
work on embossing, scrap booking, or Pergamano. You may work with the
Wizard, purchase supplies, and share ideas all while enjoying the
company of fellow crafters. There is no fee and you will receive a 10%
discount on purchases made that evening. Please keep in mind that this
evening it NOT a class night. Judi is here in the same capacity
as any other club member, to work on projects and enjoy the fellowship
and camaraderie of fellow embossers. We hope you can come and join in
the fun of the evening while completing a project.
Private Class Parties
Checkered Cottage will do a private class of 5 or more
people on any of our class projects. You can bring in your own beverages
and food if you like and we will set you up with the paper goods you
need. We have hot tea bags, hot chocolate, hot spiced cider, and water
that are available for anyone’s use during a class. All private class
participants will receive a 20% discount on any shopping done in the
store that day and the hostess of the party will also receive a $10
punch card. We do welcome children’s classes in the summer for embossing
projects with Jan Conway for ages 8 and up.
Bring a Friend Incentives
Classes - Sign up a new student to take a class with you and you
will receive a $10 punch card. This card may be used on future purchases
or class fees. Offer good for one student only per class.
Class Policies
1. All classes require a minimum
of 5 people unless designated by
teacher.
2. We will accept cancellations
up to one week prior to class
dates, otherwise class fees are
non refundable.
3. Classes must be paid in full
at time of registration. We are
not able to hold class spots
without payment – no exceptions.
We will gladly take phone-ins
for anyone wishing to use their
credit card to sign up for
class.
4. Don’t forget we will work
with anyone that wishes to set
up a special class for their
friends and /or family.
